Retaining Walls Explained

The foundation soil is first excavated as required for footing dimensions shown on the drawings. DCR will then level the excavation, which will insure complete contact of each retaining wall unit. The base is then prepared and leveled properly. This will prevent any gaps from developing between the units. The base material is carefully compacted so as to provide a level hard surface on which to place the first course of units.

The first course is the most important. If done correctly, you will be left with a beautiful, flawless retaining wall.

To add functionality and convenience to a retaining wall, DCR can build various sets of steps. These may lead to an interlocking paver brick patio or a grass area.
